Well, I recently got a full set of Infinity Reference speakers for my 1st gen. Lemme tell you, they sound awesome! My fronts are 452i's, and the rears are 652i's. Installation was a relative breeze (I had to cut the kick panel covers a bit to use the stock enclosures, but it looks better now anyway). Only problem is, my car needs more front-imaging. So, I'm thinking about putting my optimus tweeters (which are currently where my window cranks used to be) inside the center A/C vents, or where my dash cubbyhole is (right below the head).

You just bought 2 sets of Infinity speakers and your going to use craptastic Optimus(aka Radio Shake aka old Pioneer) in your car? Ugh....go on eBay and get you a set of tweeters and cross-overs.
