i do that too, but mine is behind my pass side seat against the basck wall. works great you can get it even with a passenger and in the acident senario the seat will keep you safe. check it out!

Omixeo 01-29-06 11:25 PM

Haha, I use the console too. Only bad thing is it wont shut with a soda can sitting in it. The can is a few centimeters too tall.

Alex6969 01-29-06 11:32 PM

actually, i put my coffee behind the automatic seat belt, holds it pretty good and i put my sweater around it just in case, or i'll just hold it the whole way and shift with the left...

I case you couldn't tell from the picture, drinks can't do much harm to my car.

It has to have a cap (20 oz for ex.) and whoever it is can't be a retard.

Why not switch the position of the CD player and the cupholder?

It would be harder to put in a CD, but doing that while driving is an unnecessary distraction, imo.

MaczPayne 01-30-06 01:45 PM

LOL I was about to say that!!!

I found those seats at the junkyard, no tears, no stains, no signs of use. BUT, they came from a S5 with a blue interior.

I used to have something like the console in the picture. I attached it on top of the passenger bin cover. Lasted until my tool box slid into it.

DerangedHermit 01-30-06 02:53 PM

What about on the backside of the center console? It'd be sort of a stretch, but, there's not many options.

Consoles come in different shapes and sizes. My main use for it was just to hold the drinks. Im not the type to drive and reach over for a drink while the car is in motion.

Then why do you need a cupholder?

I did that to mine aswell, think 3 times. got mad when it broke again so I fiber glassed in whole inside, didn't think at the time but I could have glassed in a cup holder, still can hmmm...

I'm still going to have to go with RoughRex's setup, just modified

https://img79.imageshack.us/img79/3097/stereo4rr.png

CD player on the bottom, cupholder up top. Has anyone tried this?

I want one for when I go through the drive-thru and am buying for more than 1 person. Otherwise I just put the drink in the center console. I don't drink and drive! :D.

I attempted that when I was installing it but the brackets weren't going to allow it without me figuring out a way to modify something. I was feeling lazy at the time so, i just put it in and hoped for the best. My shifter is really loose though so I'm thinkin' it may be ok after I get the bushings replaced. I only smash my fingers on it a little lol. I'll get a pic of the current clearance to the shifter and post it.
