new:cup holder mod. must read!

......... cup holder .......
what can you use in a rx7 for a cup holder
.. go to autozone and by a gay ass one like your grandma has in her buick?
no no no

then what...
a shoe??
but if you ahve to take that corner to show up a civic... your screwed
what oh what can you use.....

.. lap?
no no... you need to be able to toe heal and shift fast and slam the pettals...
that wont work...
passanger hold it? yes
but how often do you have one in there. what about a lunch run?

so...

use a rotar... :)

i have an fc rotar in my car. i went to set down my drink and i wound up placing it in my rotar for a second.... then it hit me

omg. thats perfect!
hahah

xlarge refilible cups may not aply. but cans of soda, or regular size drinks?
bingo

that shit wont move.

pictures will be posted when i have light.
enjoy

Onewingedangel 01-29-06 07:34 PM

...where does the rotar go??

I'd put mine on the passenger seat.

Lawlz, I used to use a rotor for holding cans when I had my old rickity steering wheel table for GT4 and Forza. It needed something to give it some weight to help stop shifting so I put a rotor there and found cans fit in there quite snugly. :D

Funkspectrum 01-29-06 07:40 PM

I know a few people that raided pop-out cupholders from old toyotas and shit and used them under the stereo...

DragonRx7 01-29-06 07:51 PM

I picked up a cupholder console from Wal-Mart. It's called The Wedge. It has 2 cup holders and a middle storage part. It wedges between the drive tunnel and the passenger seat thigh bolster. Nice and snug, doesn't look too out of place and fits quite a bit of sized drinks.

87rx7girl 01-29-06 07:58 PM

hah . nice. the wedge.

sleejay 01-29-06 08:00 PM

rotor.

lol. aperently it is.

Carzy Driver 01-29-06 08:18 PM

great idea, but I need that rotor under the hood.

J-Rat 01-29-06 08:20 PM

Not to shoot holes in this, but the last thing I want flying around my car if I am in an accident is a rotor. That can hurt!

NeCr0mStR 01-29-06 08:20 PM

carzy I can send ya one of mine I got an extra

lol

you mean its not rotar like a super being from space that would fight godzilla?

DAMNIT!@@$#@

lol

rodney87 01-29-06 08:21 PM

In a pinch I find that a can will wedge inbetween the center console and the passenger seat.

SonicRaT 01-29-06 08:21 PM

Keg in the storage bin works for me, just plumb it into your helmet

Yeah, I've got a slide out cup holder from a nissan altima mounted under the stereo in mine...looks great but unfrotunately it's kinda in the way while shifting. Here's a crummy pic of it closed.

I just cram mine between my racing bucket and the center console. Of course mine center console is kinda FUBARed, so it might not work for most of you. I actually found a new console but the bastard at the junk yard wanted 50 for it,

djmtsu 01-29-06 09:45 PM

^ Dude I have an S4 console packaged in my garage if you really need one. It has the change holders though and its light grey. $35 shipped if you want it PM me.

Sideways7 01-29-06 10:32 PM

Only twice, actually, I just used a crapload of epoxy and didn't scrape it off. My interior is so crappy I didn't car about looks, I just wanted a working center console. What actually happened was I dropped my backpack on it and it just kinda shattered the epoxy. I dunno about the center console, I'll have to think about it.

DREYKO 01-29-06 10:36 PM

i do that too, but mine is behind my pass side seat against the basck wall. works great you can get it even with a passenger and in the acident senario the seat will keep you safe. check it out!

SonicRaT 01-29-06 11:15 PM

Who needs a car!? :)

Omixeo 01-29-06 11:25 PM

Haha, I use the console too. Only bad thing is it wont shut with a soda can sitting in it. The can is a few centimeters too tall.

Alex6969 01-29-06 11:32 PM

cupholder? thats why you have a passenger with you

I case you couldn't tell from the picture, drinks can't do much harm to my car.

It has to have a cap (20 oz for ex.) and whoever it is can't be a retard.

Why not switch the position of the CD player and the cupholder?

It would be harder to put in a CD, but doing that while driving is an unnecessary distraction, imo.

MaczPayne 01-30-06 01:45 PM

LOL I was about to say that!!!

I found those seats at the junkyard, no tears, no stains, no signs of use. BUT, they came from a S5 with a blue interior.

I used to have something like the console in the picture. I attached it on top of the passenger bin cover. Lasted until my tool box slid into it.

DerangedHermit 01-30-06 02:53 PM

What about on the backside of the center console? It'd be sort of a stretch, but, there's not many options.

kungfuroy 01-30-06 03:46 PM

Consoles come in different shapes and sizes. My main use for it was just to hold the drinks. Im not the type to drive and reach over for a drink while the car is in motion.

Then why do you need a cupholder?

I did that to mine aswell, think 3 times. got mad when it broke again so I fiber glassed in whole inside, didn't think at the time but I could have glassed in a cup holder, still can hmmm...

DerangedHermit 01-30-06 05:39 PM

I'm still going to have to go with RoughRex's setup, just modified

https://img79.imageshack.us/img79/3097/stereo4rr.png

CD player on the bottom, cupholder up top. Has anyone tried this?

Tessai 01-30-06 06:18 PM

I want one for when I go through the drive-thru and am buying for more than 1 person. Otherwise I just put the drink in the center console. I don't drink and drive! :D.

I attempted that when I was installing it but the brackets weren't going to allow it without me figuring out a way to modify something. I was feeling lazy at the time so, i just put it in and hoped for the best. My shifter is really loose though so I'm thinkin' it may be ok after I get the bushings replaced. I only smash my fingers on it a little lol. I'll get a pic of the current clearance to the shifter and post it.
