Need to get carpet padding off.

I own a '86 626 and I ripped out all the carpet. There is that padding that is stickered onto the body and the roof. Trying to peel it off just left a layer of fuzzies still stickered onto the car. Anybody know how to get this off? I don't really want to scratch the paint and I have tried WD40. Trying to get this **** off is making my project take forever. I don't know what to do...
