Probably better or worst case at least as good as anything they make right now.

Good Info!!

VIFA use to make the goold ol Eclipse (by fujitsu ten) component speakers (8051 & 8061 almost sure those were the model numbers), they also used to make the speakers for cliff desings.

GOOD STUFF!

On the other hand, I would always loose a tweeter every single time I had to disconnect the sound system. Nothing major, $20 buck used to get me a new one.

Thanks fo the link

Dynaudio - gawd, I gotta wait for my next paycheck

Although I prefer a 6.5" anchoring the front stage, I'll give that Madisound set a try just due to the price...

These speakers are VERY tall, with a heavy size magnet. Seting them up on kick panels, and door molds for front stage is not an easy task due to their dimensions (kind of like the Bostons Acoustics).

It is not impossible (you know that), but they are not the easiset speakers to work with if you are setting them up on kick panels on a FC

Initial observations...
Woofer - very nice - I've only messed with Vifa dome midranges before, but I was impressed for what I got for $110.
The woofer is carbon fiber cone with a cast aluminum basket.
Woofer surround looks like butyl or nitrile rubber.
The magnet is pretty hefty.
I'm sure Madisound has all the nitty gritty specs on their website / catalog.
Tweeter - looks like silk dome or some kinda soft dome.
The profile is very small.
There was an angled, surface mount housing and a swivel, adjustable, flush mount housing.
This gives you a lot of options in terms of mounting the tweeter.
Lots of hardware was included - mounting screws, gold plated connectors.
The tweeters had their own built-in grill, but the woofers came with no grill - I guess it's assumed it'll be hidden behind your stock OEM speaker grill.
It's ashame to hide those nice carbon fiber cones!
Now...about those passive crossover units...they are rebadged Nakamichi.
Peaking into the clear, removable covers, the resistors / caps / inductors are stamped "Nakamichi" all over.
Flip the cover over (there is a generic wiring schematic sticker on the cover), and it's has "Nakamichi" clearly silkscreened on it.
Passive crossover network uses some really nice components in it.
There is a selector switch for woofer(?) phase.
There is a 3-way selector switch for tweeter level: -3dB, 0, +3dB (I think).

Woofers were packed in their own cardboard "sleeve" and tightly wrapped in "Saran wrap".
There were plastic stand-off's to keep the front of the woofer from contacting the cardboard.
Tweeters were in their own foam box - no worries about getting damaged.

You guys are right - for the money, it just can't be beat.
I had a set of MB Quart ".2" components a while back, and these things blow the MB Quarts out of the water for 1 / 2 the price!
I can't wait to install them, but this might take a while to get a real good review on how they sound.
So far, just by looking at them, they are worth the money.
Madisound took care of me on this sale, and these are serious underpriced!

I can take pics if anyone wants them...

Hope this helps!

Damn, I guess I should've read the whole thread before posting my .02 cents

Good luck with them, you will love them (for their price, there is no subsitute)

They should fit in the back of the FC no problem.
The tweeter is like a hair over 1" itself, so it's very low profile.
It would be a waste to put them in the shock towers.
That's the worse place to be putting rear fill speakers in a car.

How would these components stack up against Memphis' M class components?

I would not know. My take is do your research and remember
the audio shops will try to sell their system. I m always looking
the biggest bang for the $dollar.

Smile A Thought

Question:

Why would anyone installed more than one subwoofer?
The sound frequenices are Mono not Stereo (left and right).
Would having more than one subwoofer muddle the sound?

How about an update? I want to get one of these myself but i'm afraid that the bass might be lacking a bit compared to entry level 6.5" components i'm used to. I'm not a big bass head and i don't want to add subwoofers to cars because the usual components and 6.5"'s in the rears are enough for me.

I've had that comp set before, they sound decent. I still have a set of those tweets I might recycle, but they're awfully laid back - in a loud RX-7 interior I prefer a more forward tweeter to cut through the road noise. The $120 price is a good deal, they compare more to sets around $175 at most - they sound a lot better if you cross the tweet around 22-2300hz though.

And there's no point of even trying to get bass out of a RX-7's doors. Unless you spend a lot of time sealing it off, it ain't gonna happen. Concentrate on getting good 100hz up performance out of the doors, lets the sub do the rest. Chambered mids also work really well in a 7's doors.

I bought the vifa set a month or so ago, courtesy of this thread. I finished the install last night.

First impressoions: WAY better than stock ( Non-bose) but i have no other system to compare it too.

These speakers sound good but I agree with BOOSTD 7, no bass from the doors. The speakers move but no sound. The doors are not sealed well at all. I considered sealing the speakers but it would be difficult to get much enclosure volume.

I was able to mount the tweets, drivers, and x-over onto the platic panel the stockers came from, with the help of some fiberglass. it was not too much of a pain. The passenger side seemed to have a much tighter fit. There was only 1/4" clearance to the speaker grill and about same between the magnet and the window.

Dont run these without an external amp. I tried out of curiosity and they sounded horrible.
