nakamichi speakers
Hey guys,
I have looked everywhere for reviews on their speakers, and can't get anywhere.
What's the low down with their speakers? Anywhere as prized as their HU's?
For those with FD's, I'm looking for a setup that will make rock and country sound the best. While some may say this is subjective and everyones ears are different, I beg to differ. Take this analogy, some girls look good and some look hot as hell and between these two categories some will always disagree. Then You have the girls who are without question are drop dead gorgeous. No debate, it is what it is. I want the system to sound like a Tommy lee's base drum, Mick Mar's guitar and vince neil voice is right in front of me.
That's what I want in my system. I believe It all starts with the speakers, then a good amp to push them to their potential and then the HU to give the info.
I have decide on the Nak HU. I was thinking Nak speakers or JBL and don't have too much decided on the amp. I was also thinking about the bazooka bass for space constraints.
Any Ideas are needed.

Remember car audio is 90%install 10% products, unfortunately nak's speakers arent as good as their HU's, same thing goes for Mcintosh - great amps not so great speakers. Need to know your budget as well. Personally ive been around the block and tried the best of the best from focal, dls, morel, rainbow, genesis, monitor audio, alpine etc and you CANT beat rainbows products, they have great products at every price point. I run the rainbow profis which retail at $800 a set, I picked mine up for around $495 though, I LOVE them and cant see me buying another set of speakers. They are powered by an Audison VRX amp.

I tell whoever listens, but not many listen ...
If you want good imaging in a RX-7 you have to use a component set (or design your own) that crosses low between the tweeter and midbass. Unfortunately most comp sets cross around 3000hz, which is very bad since a 6.5" speaker becomes directional around 1700hz - and it's impossible to point them at your ears in a RX-7.
Spend some time digging through specs to find a comp set that crosses over at 2500hz max, 2000hz is much better. Or you could buy your own raw speakers and cross them over actively - but you'll definately need a 1" tweeter (not 3/4" dome) if you want it to work at 2000hz.
To answer the question, the Nak stuff I've heard is decent, but no big whoop.

Thanks for the info on the nak speakers.
I just got done looking at the focals, I'll check out the rainbows also.
I have went the cheap way out a bunch of times and have always regretted it. I will spend the money for an above average or close to the top speaker.
I play guitar (les Paul) through a marshall tube amp with 4 25 watt Marshall celestion greenbacks. So I can duplicate kiss, led zepplin, G&R, and so on. My ear has become trained to the way those speakers sound. Which are very loud and extremely clear, with unbelievable high, low and mid range. So I'm trying to match as close as possible that sound.
Thanks for the info guys.
