my tachometer does not work no more. last time it worked i was driving in heavy rain. every now and then it comes on and off, only when the car is on for a little while. anybody else have this problem? don't really know what to check first, can anybody help me troubleshoot this?

 

I bought my car, and the tach never worked. Had the car for about 3-4 years, and just got used to shifting by looking at the speedo. The tach problem is common on FD's, the connectors on the back of the tach usually just "rust" out, and then need to be resodered. That might be the problem, but there are also different problems that would make your tach not work. Pull out your cluster and check it out, but be careful when pulling out the cluster as the clips are very easy to break. Just remember to pull it "towards you".
