My antenna's actin' weird??

This happened last night (Btw, I've hardly ever use the radio). Well, anyways I decided to listen to the radio for awhile. I let the t-timer do its business and the radio was on. But I knew the radio would turn off. When I went outside I noticed the antenna was only half way down. Well, I decided to push it down all the way.

I turned on the radio today and the antenna only went up like an inch? I turned off the radio and the antenna stayed put, an inch up. Any ideas on why this is?

The only other explanation I have on this is someone messed w/ my antenna last night when I went to go see "Signs". Eh...

Well if the ant only went like 1/2 up, id say it needed to be cleaned and lubricated... Now when you went and pushed a power ant down manually, you just screwed it up.. Never push a power ant down manually, you just knocked it outta time, and it will never probally work again...

Ouch. I guess pushing it back down was a big no no. Well I havent turned on the radio since then.

What do you think if I were to manually pull it all the way up, lubricate it and see what happens?

Nah, turn the radio back on maybe it has a limiter or something to let it know its position, you might get lucky... But if not, just pick up a new power ant, you can get aftermarket ones at a car audio shop... Id recommend the Metra Mx-22a (or soemthing like that forget the exact model) but we sell them at my shop and they come with 5 mounts (although try and use the one that came with yours) ... I beleive they go for about $50 or so... Well thats what we sell em for...

Hold off on a whole new assembly! If you hear the motor turning, chances are the teeth on the cabling have been stripped or when you pushed it back it did not spool correctly and is most likely kaput.

Got to Mazdatrix web site. In FAQ they have instructions on how to change the mast. Not difficult and a hell of a lot cheaper than a Mazda or aftermarket antenna assembly . Also be careful with non-Mazda assemblies. I believe the electronic feeds are different and must be modified or you will blow the aftermarkey assembly.

Also, have heard on the forum that you should never lube the mast with stuff like WD-40. That stuff will rot the teflon belt and eventually it is also kaput. \\Good luck.
