mtx amp blown???
OK heres the problem... the damn thing won't turn on!
It worked fine as far as I knew until I pulled it outta my old car and went to hook it up in the 7. the other amp that was in the old car still works fine, so I know that I'm gettin power to it, but It doesn't seem to be workin at all!
Is there anyting other than the fuse( i already checked that, I'm not completely stupid) that I could check myself! The amp had 4 guage power wire running to it and wasn't overloaded by the sub it was running. amp is a 700 watt rms, and the sub was only a 400 watt rms
Both were mtx. amp is a 4 channel mtx thunder 4600 (I think that's the #) And it worked just fine before! the sub hit hard, and everything for the longest time. In fact, I only had problems with the smaller amp that I was running at the time.

Were you running the same sub with the amp? Reason I asked is you could have dropped below the amp's minimum impedence and cooked it. You said about the sub overloading the amp with watts, that's totally impossible. If a sub is 700 watts and your amp does 400 that just means the sub is going to be underpowered. The only time a sub can kill your amp is with your ohm load. The sub (and your wiring config.) dictate what ohm your amp runs at and if it's too low will cook her. Give your ground a check too.

remote wire is hooked up, ground is good... both subs were the same and wired identically. could it be something stupid inside the amp, like something might have gotten knocked loose on a bump or something???!!

Which fuse did you check? There should be one inline on the 4ga wire, and one on the amp. Try, turn the stereo/car on, and with a small piece of wire jump the power contact to the remote contact. You could even try it with the car off, and watch for the power LED to light up. If it doesent work, theres a problem internally.

YEAH, I checked both fuses over and over, replaced both of them at least twice just to make sure... Is there any place that anyone could reccomend that I take it to to be fixed?
