montigo blue

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has any pics of a freshly painted fd with this color.
Reason why is because Im thinking of painting the car a different color, but some people say that this color is really nice when just painted. I was thinking of going white, but if this blue looks nice then I might keep it.
thanks

heres a pic of my project.

montego is a color you either love or hate. at night it's beautiful with all the blue in it under the lights, but during the day it can tend to be a little too much green for my tastes. all in all i like the color.

someone on the forum got their car repainted montego blue, but instead of like 60% green 40% blue like it came from the factory (something like that), they added more blue paint to the mix to make the blue the dominant color. i dont think he ever posted pics of how it turned out though. sounded like a good idea though.

Ya I was just thinking that when I went into the garage to look at it again. In the pic I gave it looks very blue, but when I just looked at it, it was very green.

anyone else?

personally I think motego blue color gives out a "Class" to the car instead of looking like a cheap imported japanese cars.

Although other colors plus some body kit may seems more sporty, I'd go with montego blue w/o body kit.

I agree with ooefini, class! Mine is MB and that was the color I wanted all along. The green hew does get to me when people say my car IS green, but some realize the true beauty of it and say it is a little of both. The only problem I have had with it otherwise is that body shops can hire some real stupid monkeys who end up paintin everything for you car blue and only blue...A-holes! While not noticable most of the time the right light can make it show up especially on my brake ducts up front. If ya want some pics i could email them to ya since they are over 1mb (mb get it).
PS nice body kit on that camaro ya got in that pic up there... cause it's on cinder blocks, get it..hahaha, oh boy too much caffeine for me.

I couldn't stand Montego Barf. I got the car because it was a steal and you can't be very picky with color if everything else is what you want. I knew I would change the outside anyway so it didn't matter.....hence my new color

You can find some pictures of my Montego Blue FD at the following URL:

www.umich.edu/~mkleeman/rx7pics

The original paint was in excellent condition, but everything in front of the doors was repainted this summer due to an unfortunate incident involving black ice and a guard rail.

The pictures were taken at dusk - the car does look significantly more green in direct light. Still, I like the color.

Here's my car. These pics were taken when the paint was just a few months old.

I also have a montego blue car. I feel that you can't really see the smooth lines of the car with the green here and blue there depending on what angle you look at the car. I am going to paint it metallic silver or white, the car would look cleaner and you will be able to see the sexy curves of the FD.

That pic of the freshly painted MB looks really nice.

I think that you wouldn't be disappointed with painting it white. I am really glad I held out for a white FD. But since the car is MB I would keep it with a blue base, maybe IBM? If you go from a dark color to a really bright color or vice versa the difference of what isn't painted will be drastic.

If you do go white check out Mazdas Pure White insted of the Chaste White. The Pure White is what comes on the 99 spec RX-7s where as the Chaste White from the US years has a little cream color to it.

Ya, I wasnt planing on going with the stock white. Something like bright white, with a blue pearl or something. I really need to find a good place to take my car to first. Maco isnt touching my baby.

I plan on sanding the car, starting from the base. There will be no sign of the orignal color. Its going to be really nice.

Thanks for all the compliments. I really like IBM and other such "electron blue" colors. White also looks sweet on the FD. Really, almost any color looks good if it's a fresh, well-done paint job.
