Question Mazda Symbol - Old vs. New

I'm sure this is a pretty common question, so I appologize for the repost, but a forum search for the word "symbol" brought up more hits than I cared to fish through.

I don't like the Mazda emblem on my FD. In fact, I don't even know what the hell it is. All I know is that I like the symbol that's on the front of the newer Mazdas a lot more. So here's my string of what I'm sure are very frequently asked questions:

Can I buy 2 'M''s for a decent price?
Where can I do so?
Are the symbols currently on my car hard to remove?
How do I remove them without ruining my paint?
What do I need to put the 'M''s securely on my FD?

And most importantly - is this one of those disputed no-no's in the RX7 community, like replacing your 13b with an LS1 is?

If you dont care about it or your car for that matter enough to spend your precious 20 minutes going through the results of a search or narrowing it down then you should just go ahead and sell the car.

Rob,
It's more of a "I'm at work and don't think it's worth getting caught by my boss and fired over a shinny little piece of metal for my car" kind of don't care. Not a "I'm too lazy to look for it so I'll make everyone else do it for me" kind of don't care.

And just for the record, one of the posts that I DID look at was pretty similar to this one. Someone asked, everyone jumped on him for being a newbie, and no one answered his question. As SayNo pointed out, about 200+ threads regarding this topic are found by searching...all of which contain posts from ********* who don't answer the question, but bash the newbie for being dumb instead.

Maybe if you tried to...and this is gonna sound REAL weird...ANSWER THE QUESTION *gasp!*....this might not happen...
...but, hey, maybe it's just me.

They sell the new Flying M emblems at Rx7store.net. They come with adhesive on them to be fitted to the cars. I'm not 100% though on what's involved in cleanly taking the old emblems off and putting these on.

couldn't you just use a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive while being careful not to damage the paint and then clean the surface well before putting on the new emblems.

so it's just held on there by a glue? I figured it would have been pushed into the clearcoat or something.

Two prongs and two sided tape hold the puppy on. The old logo was the "eternal flame " wasnt it ?

Welcome to the forum, and f-k the use the search function advice. Like we all have time to search.

I only have 100 less posts than you? (and yes i do see that your join date was long before me) Also you are flaming me for flaming him, does that not simply repeat the cycle?

As far as what i posted is concerned. I know i was being an *** and i apologize but i'd just got done reading through 20 pages of a forum i used to use that had been destroyed by people asking questions over and over.

As far as awnsering your question. Its held on with either tape or adhesive i have seen both. It has two prongs that go in to the body. I couldnt find them for sale on rx7store, rotaryextreme, rotaryperformance or gotham racing. Though im sure any mazda dealer would sell them. Give Ray Crowe a call at Malloy Mazda he will get you the best prices (888 533 3400)

A heat gun would probably take them off. As far as what not to use do not use goo gone to get the adhesive mess off. It will work but some of your clear coat will go with it and your paint will bubble.

dude its smart *** comment's like that that make internet help hard to find. the guy asked a simple question, i dont know why ppl like you insist on giving him a hard time. if you just take the time to answer his question you would have spent the same amount of time typing as you did with you original reply. dont take this as flaming, there is just no reason for giving people new to the site a hard time. im new also and i hate it when ppl tell me to search when tthe search function doesnt always give you a desired answer. also he even apologized in advance.
in reply to the topic at hand, i would also like to get one of the new emblems. ive got an 88 and i dont have a symbol on the front but i think that simple peice of plastic would add a little flare to the appearance. if i got one from RX7store it comes with adhesive tape or glue, whatever it is. is that all that holds it on? i wouldnt have to do any driling would i?

If you took the time to read my 2nd post in this thread you would see that i apologized for my comment. Normally when someone apologizes other people have the courtesy to let it go but i guess you just wanted to bring it back up.

dont take this as flaming,
What would you rather i take it as then?

i hate it when ppl tell me to search when tthe search function doesnt always give you a desired answer.
However in this case with a quick search and a little time spent searching the awnser could be found.

I understand now that he was at work at therefore could not spend the time searching, all of us get urges to know/do things concerned with our car when we are not in a good position to so this is understandable. Your post however accomplished nothing other than to throw his thread which i tried to help get back on topic and even awnsered questions for, back off topic. If you feel a need to reply to this pm me with it so that this guy can get his awnser. Though now he should have had a chance to search for himself. That or someones reply will have awnsered his question.
