Arrow Matte, Flat, or Satin Finishes: Questions...

Hey,

So, I just have a few questions on these types of paint finishes. Basically, I'm considering doing this on different applications of my car i.e. exterior, suspension, or interior. I'm undecided at the moment. I'd like to know how well these finishes hold up to normal wear for the interior and road conditions for the exterior/suspension?

I'm looking to do this one-time and do it right. If anyone can advise, I'd really appreciate it!

Also, are there limitations in terms of paint colors that can be done in these finishes? Sorry for the noob questions. I'm not too familiar, but I do like how it looks when done right.

Thanks in advance,
-Rizwan

1: They're just are durable as any other finish. They can be done in base clear.....HOWEVER....you *cannot* buff or polish the paint at all as you will make it shiney. Therefore you have to live with any marks that happen to the surface over time, or redo it.

2: No limitations on colour because you can do it BC/CC.

3: Could work best on parts underneath the car given that you can't polish it. Alot of guys do do it on the exterior, but like I tell my customers if you scuff it with somthing, you're stuck with it.

^ Hes got ya covered.

i just painted an engine bay satin using b/c and its just as durable as the paint on the outside of your car. It is an additive you put in your clear coat that kind of fogs it up there for making it flat or semi gloss depending upon how much you put in.

Thanks for the input! So, basically if I'm trying to avoid having the interior (for instance) re-done often, I shouldn't go with a matte or flat look, right? Satin is probably the best alternative?

I appreciate the help!

On interior parts it may not be too bad. A little mark on like a radio surround isn't a big deal, just repaint the piece. Plus the interior isn't as subject to damage as the outside.

Its a bigger deal when you put a little scuff on a quarter panel, and are faced with painting the roof, and entire rear end of the car to get rid of.

Best alternative would be a wrinkle type finish for interior. It'll be a bit more durable just because of the material....

Why not just do it in a wrap?

Im going flat black or satin finish in a few weeks.Im choosing it because of the less maintenance required and that stealthy look. Im not making a show car but street monster. All my bling is going to be under the hood. I even got a great deal on a gallon of flat black paint for 54 bucks(not primer). I say do it. but do it the right way
