Not a singles ad, I'm looking for a nice new shifter for the spring Short & Heavy are my criteria....any suggestions? I currently have a Sparco, and it's a bit too tall and light-weight for me:

I have this cheap-*** plain chrome *** I bought for 20 bucks at Autozone. Works like a charm, perfect fit. Looks damn good too. When people ask, I tell them its a custom piece

This one?

It doesn't look short OR heavy... 0.42 lbs. Though I don't know what a good weight would be...

I don't know if the thread pitch is the same, but Kartboy makes cool shift ***** for Imprezas, Evo's, and Protege's.

The stock **** IS pretty heavy, but i don't have it anymore. Also, I don't recall liking the shape of it. I'v got the B&M short shifter in there, so a little more weight than this 3oz shifter would be nice

Is this the Razo you were talking about?

The Razo Weighted **** is much heavier than the stock **** (if that's what you are after).

Yeah, pretty expensive too.... I think i might try the Razo if nobody has any other suggestions.

edit:
how heavy should i go? I see them from 105g all the way up to 400g!!!! That's pretty heavy Any personal experiences with differently weighted *****?

Has anyone tried a really tall shift lever? A few of the Subaru guys had them, they get in the way of the stereo, but you barely have to remove your hand from the steering wheel, rallycar style.

seriously, get the Kartboy, they are a great shape, very fat, I don't know how heavy though.

A little research showed that almost every shift **** is the same thread pitch. You could contact them if you're unsure about this, the phone number / email is on the website www.kartboy.com

Don't believe everything you read. The heavy **** helps keep vibration out of the shifter as well as making the shift feel less notchy. The **** can't hurt the tranny.

You are in need of the GReddy shift ****. It is threaded waaaay up there so it sits very low on the shifter. It is also machined from billet so it is a bit on the heavy side. Most of the other aftermarket units, esp. the Momo stuff sits way up there as the valley for the shifter is not very deep. I know that NOPI carries the GReddy shift ****. Normally I would not recommend anything from GReddy (hate em) but the shift **** is fairly innocuous and you wont have to call GReddy for any technical info on how to install it

Thanks.

Sorry I'm so late getting a reply back to you. I'm using the 400g version with the RX-7 Store Short Shifter. It works pretty nice.

The **** did sit a little too far down on the shaft and caused some vibration. I added a little tape around the shaft where it was touching and it stopped the noise.

I'm sure you'll love the ****.

Sweet! Glad you like it!

I'm not a huge fan of CF, but I do love the ****. It has "just enough but not too much" of the CF look.

I bet the stock FC **** is heavy enough to kill a guy if you threw it at his head... (I know it would at least REALLY hurt)

hmm...

I must say, there aren't many things more practical than a plain white sphere when it comes to shift *****. Easy to see, easy to grab.

I do like Razo-style ones, though... the plain "shaft" kinds and the sphere types. Not the fancy-looking ones. Although there are probably better things to spend my money on. I think the Mazdaspeed ones are cooler, but too damn expensive ($120? wtf?).

Also, remember that dark or metal shift ***** get HOTTTTT when the sun is out. But I'm sure you guys already considered that :p
