Looking for a really nice DIN pocket or block-off plate

Hello,

I've just replaced my factory stereo with a 1-DIN unit. I'm looking to put something below the new head unit to take up the space from the 2-DIN factory stereo.

In this slot I am going to mount something that will need to be sturdy, so I can't use any flimsy DIN pockets or double-sided tape tomfoolery. I tried the Scosche DIN pocket here:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOFM2157B?vq_id=none

But it's crap. Doesn't stay in place, looks awful, etc.

I haven't tried the Metra version of the same, mostly because I can't find which part number will work. But unless the Metra is 10 times nice than the Scosche, I'm probably going to be disappointed.

What I'm really looking for is something that uses the same kind of mounting system that my head unit uses. A metal surround that is held to the front face with bendable tabs. I'd like a pocket or block-off plate that then uses this interface.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks,

-ch

I am using the Metra version, and it fits nice and flush (it looks like the trim/border is thinner on the metra than the scosche) but the only bad thing is that it has CD slots premade in the pocket. if you want a pocket with a flap try getting the OEM R1 mazda din pocket with flap (at least i think there's one)

How securely does the Metra stay in the DIN slot? If you pulled on it, how easily would it pop out? The Scosche takes about 2lb of force before it pops right out.

I've never seen the R1 DIN pocket...but I'm betting it goes for about $1,000 nowadays.

I just stuck the Bose tape deck back under my Kenwood unit. I didn't want to have the issues you guys were having with a shitty aftermarket pocket. Fits perfect, and I don't think it looks weird with two radios.

The Metra model number is MET-99-7500. Like what was previously stated it has built in CD holders, really annoying. More than likely it will disappoint you.
