Hi,

My 88 convertible has a greying, faded plate surround that doesn't match the new tail lights I installed. Can this piece be sanded down and polished? Or will that ruin it. Is it painted, or solid colored plastic?

Its plastic, usually when it fades it cracks.
If yours isnt crackly try polishing a section, otherwise sand, prime, and paint.
