Not talking about the rails themselves, but the overall structural rigidity of the base / rail combination.

There is no way you will be able to install a side-mounted seat with the stock rails. Period.

There is a reason why each seat company sells rails and adapters! You might as well try to install an aftermarket steering wheel without a boss hub.

You can, and I did. Only reason I had to stop is I wanted to go lower, and the only way to do that was to shave the slider and bolt the side mounts straight to the base rail.
