LeMans Gold HID for FD3S

I wanted to know if there was a kit for my FD in that Gold/Green tink HID like the LeMans GT cars. I love that look and anything is better than the headlights that i have on the car now.
Thanks
Rob

I thought that tint of light was caused by the light covers they have, which if you look are yellow/gold.

Maybe i was wrong?

The colour is used to distinguish which class of car is approaching. Only the fastest have "white" lights. Sorry, I forget the class names. Other posters are correct - the colour is derived by using a film - the lights themselves are "white". It would be very difficult to get an HID to be yellow without a film to filter it through. HID is basically an arc lamp, not usually available in low temp. colours such as yellow.

As for being illegal, installing an HID system requires auto leveling of the lights to also be installed. Then you have to get your local government body to inspect and approve it. The police are aware many install illegal lights and are very sensitive to that - you would be pulled over and be in trouble.

no no, hids are illegal-yes. but do the cops know/ distinguish the aftermarket hid or factory (lexus, bmw, mercedes) hid's? no. i think the yellow ones would be kind of out of place. but if they light the road good enough. then yeah, and yes they do sell it, they make hids in white, blue, purple, and yellow. search ebay bro

This is the new fad with all of the highschool racers in Southern California. I knew sooner or later it would turn up on this forum.

It looks cool on the race track...and if you ever get close to those puppies in the pit lane you'll notice they are like twice as bright as regular HIDs be it the Yellow Hid for the GT classes or the White lights for the LMP (Le Mans prototype) classes. Either way it's pretty stupid looking on the street.

Yellow lights?

Don't forget to tape your headlights in an "X" pattern.

It is acutally very easy to get many colors with arc lamps (HID) depending on the elements used in the arc tube. Yellow spectral yield is one of the more easy colors to produce. A few years back when I was in Tokyo, and probably now, you could buy yellow output HID lamps from RayBrig, PIAA, etc. Neat for fog lamps, but less neat for main beams.

if you get 3200k or lower hid bulbs you should get a yellow hue to the light instead of blue
