Krylon Fusion Plastic Paint!!!
Just saw a commercial for Krylon Fusion Plastic paint. It is supposed to bond on the molecular level to plastic and not chip off. If this is the case I think we have our long awaited easy fix for the tan interior. I didn't want to take on the project unless I knew that it was going to last a while. Has anyone used this yet? I hope it works

No problems with flaking? What type of prep did he do to the parts? If this works that is my winter project. Black interior with gunmetal center console and door accents.

what do you guys think of this on high wear areas? I have a 94 and am converting the interior. All that needs to be done is the carpet and seats...
The plastic molding on the seats especially the recline handle...might wear. Also, the seat belt holder might not hold up...
do you think the clear coat will last for these areas?

The damn paint showed wear in about a week and a half of just sitting in my room. Than I took your advice on what clear coat to use. No wear yet.

Should I use the Fusion on my door panels and rear bins? I was just thinking that it may be too glossy. Is there a clear coat that should be applied so the doors and bins aren't too glossy? Thanks.

Just digging up an old thread.
Just wondering if the paint is still holding up for you guys.
I noticed that Zerobanger who has similar parts painted (that is the seat pieces that i want to paint) was trying to buy black ones on the for-sale section.

I solved that problem. FWIW, the kryon paint will not help with those pieces. As the seat back is adjusted it rubs agains the plastic piece and wears it off. Also, you can simply scrape the paint off with your fingernails, its very fragile.
I came up with a rather unique way to solve my problem... I bought a can of some textured spray paint and then clear coated it. Solved the problem. I dont recommend it for anyother part of the car as the texture is more outspoken, but for the plastic seat nuckle covers its ok. It looks much better than they did with the tan showing through and having to repaint them all the time. And Mazda's really nice price of $55.00 each sucks.

Zero!
I knew you would find the threads!
Anyways, did you clear coat the Krylon and it still didn't work? What exactly did you use this time around?
