kenwood x579 HU and X521 amp...
i have this head unit, and i have this amp. i hooked up the wire between the rca's to "ext cont" on the HU, and to "P con" on the amp. i have it grounded, and ran a power wire from the battery, but the amp is still not turning on. i made sure the HU sub preout was on but, the amp still isn't turning on...
anyone have any ideas why? used a butt connector between the rca wire and ext con wire (pink with black stripe) and it is snug, not loose...
thanks

power doesnt come from rca's it come from battery+ and remote(blue) wire. rca wire is basically the speaker wire or sub wire from head unit to amp. rca's dont get hooked up to "extra content" they get hooked up to a red and white output on the back of the headunit. depending on the headunit you might have 4, wich means 2 red and 2 white circular shaped ports (outputs) for the rca wires to plug into. if its for the sub you want to hook it up to the one that says "rear" or "rear output", not the "front" or "front output".

yea yea i know, but the rca's have an extra wire between them, a small wire that i used as the remote wire so i didn't have to run an extra one.
the rca's are hooked up correctly.

That wire between the RCA's is meant to be a ground loop isolator, aka, giant impedance antenna. I highly recomend getting new rca's. Is the power fused, and is there a good fuse in the block? If you connected the remote turn on to the power antenna wire instead of the remote wire on the hu (both are blue) the amp will only turn on when the radio is on. Double check all your connections.

for whatever reason, the ext cont wire had no power, just hooked the wire up to a different 12v source and everything works fine now.
thanks for all the help.
