Unhappy Interior design ideas.

Ok I own an 87 TII that I love to death but I have the wonderfull 80's clay red interior that looks like it belongs in an 87 Trans AM. So I've been thinking of swapping it for a grey interior but I know this will take quite a bit of time so I was wondering why not fabricate my own interior, or atleast just take one that looks better from another car in a junkyard or of a parts bin site. So what I need is to know if anyone could help me with this, seeing as I know very little, more like close to nothing, about upolstery and panel fabrication. I want something with smoother lines and more up-to-date look. Thanks.

Now my next question is how do i go about fabricating this dash and other panels once I get my skeletal structure? I'm guessing that fiberglass would be the best substance.

Thanx alot, I was talking to one of my friends about doing the redesign and he said I could just use the old dash and take off the vinyl and add the fiberglass I need to get the shape I want and then recover it. Would this method work also?

You can use some negative space if you use the propter method. You mentioned using mesh, I would also consider wood! (Balsa, Bass, Lite-ply, etc.) Wood is easy to shape, sand, and cover. A 'glass piece with wood matrix is very stiff. This was the precurser to CF and alluminum honeycomb. Colin Chapman loved this stuff and the C5 Corvette uses a balsa/glass floor for strength and sound absorption!
