Installing speakers in doo, question about spacer and how it will sound.
I picked up some Sony 3 way speakers for my door the other day, and found out id also need some spacers. Well, the spacers I got seem just a little too big for speakers, even though all the holes line up. So im wondering, is this small space in between the rim of the speaker and the spacer going to effect any bass ill have. It was one of the bassiest speakers there, which is why I bought it and I dont want to lose that since I probably wont put a subwoofer in the car.
Ill try and post a picture in a while of what im talking about.

Im sorry to tell you this, but sony is teh suck. Infinity kappas are nice, so are CDT audio 6 1/2" components, the have some on sale at www.thezeb.com for 150 shipped.
As for your question, I don't think that there should be any problems, just wondering, what speakers you got in the rear, and are u gonna run of headunit or an amp??
Please post pics as because i'm gonna be doing the same thing either with infinity kappa 5 1/4 comps or the cdt audio comps i was talking about above.

I have Kappa Perfect 5 1/4 Components in my doors. They sound very clear but the midbass sucks. My door is sealed VERY well with a lot of Dynamat. If you're looking for any bass output, I wouldn't go with Infinity. Sony car audio stuff is generally pretty crappy, but I can't say that I've necessarily heard the speaker you have.
As far as the spacer issue...The speaker definitely needs to be sealed around the edges of this spacer. The spacer should also be sealed to the mounting surface. You will have NO bass response unless the speaker sits in a firm, sealed mount. You will probably not get much bass response anyways from those speakers without distortion unless you amplify them and even then...don't expect much.

Okay, well I got out there and the spacers arent going to work anyway. IT seems the speaker fits in the door without fuss anyway, with enough clearance.
As far as the speaker choice, I still out my girlfriend a few grand for all of the **** ive done to the car, and ive been slacking on paying her, so im lucky she let me buy these speakers at all. The reason I picked them was because the other few in my price range had little or no bass compared to these.
Trust me, if I could have dropped some money it would have been on some components.
Im kind of building the radio from the ground up, the previous owner took all the speakers and the head unit.
Ill be running these off the head unit.
Maybe Ill pick up a little dynamat for around the speakers, just to ensure the best possible seal, bacause I want all the bass I can get from these little guys.
I dont need a fancy stereo in here, Ive got all the stereo I need in my Blazer. READ 4 10s.
