i need to pick out a sub amplifier
hey every1.
Ive been shopping for a basic, run of the mill subwoofer setup. My clarion headunit was pre-wired for it. I picked up a new 10" polk sub for $23.68 and a new box for $30 (ah the joy of open box items, lol) so all i need now is an amplifier. As you can probably tell, im not looking to spend any more than i have to, and i beleive the sub is rated @ 400w max and 160-175w continuous. Any suggestions and prices for what 2ch amp i should buy? plmk
thanks
-Zach

MTX makes excelent 2 ch amps. They are quickly becoming the most reliable amps on the market. There is good deal on a 150x2 (425x1) (THUNDER8302R - $199) at their online factory outlet www.mitekfactoryoutlet.com
These are reworked at the factory in Phoenix.

you can buy my sony for $80.... XM1002HX..... 2 channel, wattage is more than you need....(turn it down)
Make sure you're checking the ohm load on the sub. You only bought one sub, so let us know what ohm load it is. (dual 2 ohm, single 4 ohm, etc.) That will determine what amp you need...

jl audio makes excellent amps they have two different class the e class might be what ypu want the have a e1200 which is a 200watt mono amplifier for about 200 bucks or a e2150 for the same price which in term is a two channel amp. i have been doing stereo work since i was 14, 28 now and this is what i do for a living i highly recomend this amp and this amp is very compact so it will not take up a lot of room check it out at www.jlaudio.com you will love them and i cant get you hands on one e-mail me at darrintonjr@juno.com

I have nothing but praise for my Alpine V-Power MRP-M200... it's a mono amp and puts out around 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms.. I have it pushing a single Apline sub and it sounds wonderful.. amp is pretty cheap, too.. Circuit Shitty sells them for $180, so you could probably find one cheaper on the 'net...

Probaly the best amps out there are the JL ones or phinex gold. The Px gold titanium series ones are great amps. There not cheap thought but they put out great power and have some what of a showey look to them.

if you're lucky enough to have a memphis auth. dealer around, they are the way to go. Killer power for a reasonable price... I quad-10 all-memphis setup in the hatch and it's killer. I spent less than a grand on all new ****...

you don't need a d-class sub. I used to have a pioneer 760 watt 2-channel pushin 2 12's, and it did alright, but you needed 4 ga wire. If you're not looking to spend much, go to bestbuy, and get a power acoustik. buy one that is 100-200 watts max more than what you would need(they're rated at 17 vdc). I have an a1800db pushin 3 x audio square 10's, and it hardly gets warm.
