I need a hood that will clear this

I've searched through the site, found plenty of reverse cowl hoods but nothing with a cowl or bump that will clear the front of the 1J, is a custom hood an option that isn't ridiculously expensive?

Here's a shot of the hole that allows the hood to close

Nice swap man. Looks good.

I think you're best bet would be to do a custom hood. You could take your original hood and get a shop to fab up a scoop that looks like the original TII scoop. I think that would look really cool. Or you could get some aluminum welded in where the hole is and formed (a bump) around the 1J. Don't know how expensive it would be but I'm not to sure how many other options you have with hoods that will clear that. Most hoods have vents that take up space within the engine bay rather than clear it up. Also you said you have checked out some cowl hoods but won't clear. If you've already done that then maybe the best bet would be to get something fabbed up.

ya, this is what I was thinking, I just need to find a shop that can do the welding/fab work. Any idea what i should look for in the phone book?

and btw the swap was done by sketch_hs, bought the car a few weeks ago, just finishing up all the details he couldn't hammer out, its a great car-just needs to be "finished" if there is such a thing

i looked at the cowled hoods and unfortunately i could not find any that don't look ridiculous, i would only need a 1-2" cowl on the hood to clear the 1J and so far the smallest Ive seen is 4"!
