http://www.omori-na.com/catalog/spec...turbinerpm.htm

This is pretty damn cool, a turbine RPM meter...

Even if this gauge isn't really necessary for my state of tune, it'd still be REALLY cool to have.

Maybe I'm just a poser.

That's definetly some nice information to have at your fingertips. However, I'd question the integrity of the connections where the sensors meet the turbo blades. Hopefully the stuff is sturdy enough not to brake and shred up your blades.

Lets just say I'd expect this sensor to cost 4 figures ..... some diesel guys use these sensors, so I wouldn't worry too much about them coming apart.

"... where the sensors meet the turbo blades"? It's an optical sensor. That means the blades are sensed optically, so there isn't anything "meeting" the blades. Seems like there would be some tuning in order to get the sensor to reliably track RPM, but maybe they can do that at the factory, given the kind of turbo you're going to use it with. Hence the "special order" thing, perhaps.
