Just the outside you will need about 2 quarts. To do the jams and underhood areas 3 quarts should do it. Also if a primer similar in color to the base coat is used less paint will be needed for complete coverage. You will need the same amount of clear as base.

I would get a gallon of both base coat and clear. The thing about base is that you want to buy all at one time. Coming back to the paint supplier and asking for more base could mean a slight difference in color. You might waste that extra quart but it's well worth it. You might need that quart for future touch-ups. It also depends on what color you're spraying as well as what color you're spraying over. Red is the color that bleeds easiest. If you're spraying over a color that's totally different than what you're laying down, you will end up using more paint to cover up.
Don't forget about things like sandpaper, wax/grease remover, tack cloth, primer, sealer, filler, ect.... Those things add up fast when you don't expect it

Well idealy you want to spray your primer color as close to your base color as possible. That way the least amount of paint is needed. But if you think you will have problems a gallon cant hurt.

I stored my red paint for about a year now and just started spraying again. Came out fine!! As long as it's in a sealed container, it shouldn't dry up on ya
I also forgot, I meant 1 gallon reduced. So 3 quarts is ideal.
