House of Kolor paints?
House of Kolor paints?
Is anybody using House of Kolor paints on their car? And if so, how many coats did you put on and did you mix any flakes or colours together? Also, how much did it cost you? I'm also wondering what you would think about going over an older colour with flakes and a new colour. I don't think this would work very well with most colours, but I'm thinking of respraying over black. If you mixed flakes with a new black - it's not like you'd have to respray that many coats right? I mean you already have the base coat. Just an idea. Let me know about your HOK experiences...
I had house of kolors on my previous paint which started with a black base coat, 6 coats of silver and 13 coats of kolbot blue. plus I repainted the car like 3 times which ended up with like 32 coats of paint. In the end when I repainted my car to Azure Blue, I didnt need to sand off my old paint, but could just peel it off, it was like a sheet of 1/8 plastic coving the car. I loved it, and it is very expensive too. The color is very deep and bright, but best of all, it is very resistent to rock chips, since it was so thick. here was a pic of my car with house of Kolors kolbot Blue.

if you want your car to look like a "skeeter" bass boat then use flakes but personally i dont like flakes. and as for sanding off old paint..depending on how much body work you need you would only have to wet sand the whole car with say 600 grit. on cars paint sticks better to paint..harder to get a good lookin paint job on a single coat of primer after youve sanded all the way down. hard to explain but if ya have questions pm me.
damn dude i probley just gave you the worst reply ever..nothing i said made any sense or was related to your question..**** its late..but heres my answers for real..not big on flakes but pearls are good..hok paint is expensive as hell but is damn good paint for different colors but if ya just want a basic color..ppg, dupont ,many others are good and alot cheaper but if ya want a crazy color thats different then hok is the way to go..sorry for the first reply...good luck on your quest for a color..im still tryin to decide what color to paint mine..later..julian
