Hood Dampers interest.

I found a hook up on hood dampers. I wanted to see if there was any interest. I can get them for $100 shipped but it all depends on the interest. Here is a pic of what they look like. This is not the actual kit for the FD but is what the dampers looks like. They are also available for 350Z, Civic, S2000, RSX. Also there will be a C/F version but no word on how soon it will be available. Also if you happen to be in the area of Corona or Murrieta Ca. you can pick them up for $95.

No offense, but I would rather pay a couple extra bucks for the rotary extreme or tein ones, and know that fitment and quality wont be an issue.

Well I have my own sore opinions of the mounting methods that Tein, as well as this example shown here uses for mounting but thats just me. I havent seen RE's yet, I'll have to take a look at it.

Other than the choice in mounting, the Tein is VERY high quality and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good hood damper set.

Have you try those yet? So how do you know there would be any fit ment issues?

Those look like NRG kit which they are good quality.

Well, as I said, my only beef is the mounting point to the hood itself, but Tein's setup is identical. I would prefer the brackets utilize TWO bolt holes or atleast have a tab that helps hold it in place. I had one of my struts eject itself and take some paint with it due to the bolt not being tight enough and allowing the bracket to sway a bit. Partially my fault but would of been avoided completely if two bolts were used.

The price is right (about 45$ under what I paid when the TEIN's first appeared on the market) and if they are NRG I think the quality portion is up to snuff -- so I say bring on the groupbuy.

Well is not a group buy. It just that it be easier on my brother to know how many to get so he will have them in hand and the buyer doesn't have to wait any longer. That is just a generic pic for the dampers. It doesn't show the actual FD one. I think my brother can get a pic of the actual one for the FD.

I'd be interested to see that, I dont really want to invest in another set since I already have my Tein's but if the mount is better than the Tein mount I may be interested in seeing if I can purchase JUST the mounts and modify them to work on my dampers.

Thanks,
~Kris

well... with my personal belief that these are made by the same company, I can tell you that I unfortunately doubt that the mounting will be different. I will try to find out however.

How high do they raise the hood as compared to the stock latch holding it in place? Also, is their much resistance when pushing the hood down to close it?

YES! The RE mounts are much better -- the NRG ones are adequate but are identical to the Tein setup. They are a quality peice but the RE looks more 'solid' IMO.

Interested in seeing a mounted set of these. Any pics? Just mainly want to see how they mount better.

Also would probably hold out to see how the CF ones look when they come out. Keep us updated.
