Hey y'all,
I putin' a Clarion unit in and ran into a problem. The Clarion uses the batt cable to supply the amps and the ign switched line to just turn the thing on and off. I'm not running a lot of amps (~8-10). Can I leave the stock batt cable(87TII), or should I run a new one from ????
Thanks in advance.

your kinda vauge on what your doing if your running one amp depending on wattage you can just run an 8 guage line back to the amp from the batt terminal. I have 2 amps a 4X40 kicker impulse 404 and a jbl 100 watt decade series I ended up running 4 guage back to the distribution blocks and I have a 1 farad capacitor on that line....anyways how many whats is the clarion amp and are you running an aftermarket head unit with rca outs the install is fairly simple and there are kits avail with rcas etc that make it cake. I bout a dual amp hookup kit from rockfor fosgate and its premium quality stuff very please with the install.
Run 4-gague power/ground for your amps...this way you dont have to upgrade to bigger cable when you upgrade your system if you ever do in the future. The extra $5 the cable will cost is worth not haveing to remove the old stuff and put in new stuff and buy all new stuff.
The only time you will need more than 4 gauge is if you are pushing SERIOUS power from your amps (ie: 2000+ watts)
