Help!! Just got paint job...
I just got my FD back from the paint shop and noticed that there is a rough texture on the undersides of the mirrors. I don't think they were that way before, but can't remember. Also, the rear section where the taillights are appears to be a different color black (like they weren't painted). The plastic isn't so different in this area that it should look this way, should it? I know the ************* didn't paint my door handles, because the guy that had it before me chipped the paint around the keyhole, and that hasn't been touched. I'm thinking of putting a stop payment on the check until it's corrected, but I'm not sure of the legality. I've also found two big chips in the paint. This is the first paint job I've ever had done and paid $2000 to have it repainted black (no engine bay or door sills). I don't expect show quality, but ****...

talk to manager, body shop always give you some kind of warranty on paint job. and two big chips on where??
2g..looks like you took it to pro body shop, which they shold have some kind of warranty. the body shop where i work right now we give out life time warranty on paint job. 1.color fade, 2.chips out no reason, you know ...any failure due to improper repair by workers -duh-
so yea, best thing you can do is talk to general manager, dont talk to bodyman or painter because they makes all kinds of excues.

Exactly, you have rights, you know. Go back to the shop, be polite but very firm that the job is unacceptable and they need to fix it.
If they don't agree, take pictures, cancel the payment, and take them to small claims court.

Every reputable paint/body shop should have a two week break-in-period. In other words, when you drive off, they will tell you to come back in two weeks to have everything checked out, whether or not there are any problems with the paint. Keeping in mind that they only do this with big jobs such as your's. Call them and let them know what is wrong, definetly take those pictures for reference, and be frank with them, don't beat around the bush. More importantly, keep the appointments you make with them. If they tell you to come in on a certain day, show up.
I know it sounds like I'm just ranting, but I'm trying to tell you what I did/didn't do from my own experiences. I had my entire FD repainted as well. Nothing ever comes out perfectly from these things, so just take everything in stride.

There are ways of prepping plastics for paint. It can be tricky but it's not out of the scope of a bodyshop that will charge $2k for a paint job that doesn't even include door jambs . . unless they are just trying to avoid doing something that they have no experience with, which seems unlikely.

You would think, eh. When I finally got a hold of the guy (he refused to return my calls) and informed him that I'd put a stop payment on the check, he was tripping over himself to meet and discuss the issues. We'll see tomarrow...

I dropped it off today. He didn't give me any guff, I'll give him that. I guess it's tough to argue over issues that are right in front of you. I guess I would have given him the benefit of the doubt if not for his previous actions. He quoted me a week and took four. During that time when I'd call to find out WTF (it's a little cold commuting on a motorcycle) he wouldn't return my calls. When I finally got the car and had issues, he wouldn't return my calls. Thus the stop payment. Now he's constantly calling me. We'll see how this turns out...
