Help! Can't get the head unit out.

Hello all,

I've been searching around and not getting anywhere, so I'm hoping somebody can help me out.

I've got a non-Bose '93 FD and I can't get the receiver to budge.

I think I'm using the OEM removal tools correctly: I push them in until I feel them 'engage' (and when that didn't work, I've pushed pretty hard...) and pull forward. When I pull on the tools, they just pull back out, so I've also stuck my fingers in the tape slot and pulled (again, pretty hard). It feels like it's caught in back, like the wiring harness won't let it come forward, but I could be wrong.

Since I'm having no luck the proper way, I'm thinking I may have to remove the dash panels...

I have seen references to how-to threads regarding removing the receiver and panels, but I haven't been able to find them.

Help?

When you push the rods in all the way you have to then pull the left one to the left and right one to the right. This pushes the spring clips that hold the deck in place towards the deck. Then you pull the deck straight out. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this very clearly so I'll try to find some illustrations if you can't get the deck out.
