I remember reading about something similar with a HUD boost gauge & turbo timer, but thought that was kinda pointless (why the need to look up after you shut the car off?); turning it into a $4-600 novelty.
If anyone has this or similar, plz post some feedback

my dad's 03 vette has HUD, and it is actually pretty damn kool. In this setup you posted, that box looks rather large...and seeing how very little space is between our dash and windshield, im gonna say FD owners are likely to be SOL.

these guys were right next to our booth at sema last month so i ended up talking to them for quite a while. its a pretty nice unit and works well. they are going to have a flush mounted one you can inset into the dash as well.

All the features are great, but where is the speedo?
It also looks very blurry, unclear to read. How easy is it to see during the day?
Plus why have it,if you already have a bunch of gauges, like on the zo6?
Also did you need a special windshield?
It my questions are answered correctly and it is 500 dollars then ill buy one tomorrow.Im in the market for gauges for my project right and i was looking at some dakota digital custom gauge clusters.

twin I think they answer your questions on the site...but as far as i know....
1) blurry if you dont use there tombstone or sticker...otherwise you will get a double image from the thickness of the glass
2) no speedo...others things apparently can be added...
3) no special windshield
4) they say easy to see in day...
I actually have the Defi HUD boost gauge and turbo timer....I am currently rebuilding the car but we did a test fit and it looks great...I don't think sunlight will be a big prob

If this could eliminate the need for my boost/water temp guages from the DIN slots, I'm up for it. It's out of the question to mount either on my A-pillar, so I may consider a HUD if it comes with these features.

did you get a sense by looking at the size of the unit if it would fit well in the FD or not?

good point, in order to fit it in the fd you would have to cut out a large part of the top curved part of the instrument cluster. its kind of a physically large unit and the fd has a small dash. im sure the flush mount version would fit great though.

I think it looks like crap...its all blurry and seems obtrusive to your view of the road. It could just be the pic...but anywho....the HUD in the Z06 rules, I have it set real low and its super clear.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if anything has happened with this? Its such an interesting idea, but the website isn't terribly informative...

well that may be true sparkey because it is new and does go against the grain....but when you think about it, it is rather beneficial. everyone has a-pillar gauges and center speaker pods because its close to your normal focus point (the road). But this product puts the gauges IN your focus point, so you can concentrate on both. But it is unconventional, and might look a little weird cuz you need a hole cut in ur dashboard hood. To each his own tho

teamstealth you are absolutely right with everything you said. But for me I just dont like it that much wouldnt want to cut the holes to make it work and I would much rather have the gauges to me those look better and are more classy. You are right though to each his own.
