Headlight frozen up - how do I pull this thing?

The online manual doesn't describe how to remove the headlights. My driver side light is frozen in the up position - how can I remove the light and replace the motor while it's stuck in the up position??

Thanks!

What model? I think the location varies by model, but every car made that has pop-up lights has an emergency crank. Look for a longish cylendrical thing as part of the headlight motor assembly, on the end of it there should be a rubber cap, and if you pull the cap off you will find a little **** that you can turn to move the light up and down. You have to turn it a lot, because there is a very high gear reduction in the mechanism.

Silly me - 3rd gen. I remember seeing that, I believe it is on the motor itself. Awesome, thanks!

I have the same problem with my 3rd gen but the light (driver's side) will go down if I wait a minute or two. Do you think I need a new motor or does it just need to be cleaned or something?

Good question - I had the same symptoms and tried spraying all the joints with silicone lube - no good. For a while I could hear the motor cranking away and trying to raise/lower the lights. I decided to leave the lights up so that I wouldn't burn the motor out.. might want to leave yours in the up position till you can take it apart and check the motor out. Or you could do what I'm doing - shop for a sleek light kit

I wish I could afford a kit but I'll either have to fix this motor or get a new one for now. Maybe some time in the future I'll have enough cash for a kit - after my wheels, my performance mods, my extra money for a new engine in case this one goes, etc, etc...lol You know what I'm talking about :P

No kidding... I'm planning to piece a kit together and use this as an excuse for getting creative, but I know what you mean. I believe I've seen motors going for about $50-70 or so.

Well that'll be good - hopefully it won't need a new motor...but if that's the case that's not a horrible price (I guess :P). Good luck with your kit shopping. If you do piece together a kit I think you can do one a lot cheaper than the package price...or even if you got a used kit and fixed it up.
