has anyone painted their CF hoods before?????

i wanted to paint my cf hood to match the car, but the guys at the body shop tells me not to. they said that after painting on cf's you will see wavie shapes on the surface. pls. let me know and if anyone have any pic. would be great.

If there is slight 'waviness' in the epoxy, it can easily be wet-sanded flat. Any quality CF hood would have very little, if any. It should be flat and smooth like the stock hood. Any bodyshop that has done any work with composites should know that. Sounds like yours have not, and I would find another place.

I think the guys at your body shop are trying to get out of some work they don't want to do. If there are waves in the carbon or you can still see some of the weave it will have to be filled and sanded smooth before they paint it. CF hoods look much better painted IMHO.
