Going Aftermarket -- speakers?
Dang it, I was trying to put this in the audio section. I have no idea how it got here. Could a mod move this for me please?
Well, I just snagged the most expensive Clarion CD player I could find, but unfortunately, it requires an amp. I thought since I was buying a new amp (actually, two), I would buy new speakers, so now I am left with this dilemma...What size speakers go in the doors and in those little cubby holes right behind and above the seats? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for speakers?
I'm not real experienced in car audio, so please excuse me if I sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, because that's partially true.

try Crutchfield, they have a lot of speaker selection. Also the have search engine to find the one fit your car.

It all depends. I personally just bought some Dynaudio's which are considered some of the best speakers out there but are rather pricy. There is no reason to get them if you are going to drive them with a low quality amp however. Additionally, if you are going to put in a high quality system, you will want mount your speakers in custom kick panels since that is where you get the best sound imaging due to the increased path length. You will want to mount both your mids and tweets in the kick panels right next to each other.
If this sounds like a bit more than you wanted to deal with, you can go with slightly less expensive components and mount them in the stock positions. The front can fit a 5.25" and I think you can fit 6.5" s in the rear but I recommend asking your local car audio installer. He will be able to help but realize that car stereo salesmen are the sleezyest people on earth so don't trust him too much and get a second opinion.
Hope this helps.

I'm thinking of spending close to a grand or more on a system, since I'm dumping this Bose stuff. I got a Clarion deck, and I was thinking about going for all Clarion stuff (except for the sub..they don't make em ) while I'm at it.
A friend of mine knows someone personally that will install everything, but I have to buy all the stuff before-hand, so I have to know exactly what to get. I'm not sure about a mounting bracket or whatever you need (where do you buy one?).

I am running 6.5" Rockford Fosgate separates up front in the door. The tweets are mounted on the black plastic triangle by the mirrors. I have JL Audio 6x9 mounted where the cubby holes were in the back. The shop took the cubby holes and sawed off the back and mounted the 6x9 to them. Works great. I also ditched the spare tire and mounted two 8" sub-woofers and the 5 channel amp in a custom enclosure in place of the spare. Hope some of this helps.

I've got Dynaudio seperates, awesome awesome sound quality. Both the 7" and 1.1" are mounted in the doors. I also recommend *NOT* getting speakers in the rear, your imaging will be much better with just front speakers and an excellent woofer.

Don't you think it's kinda silly to just put "Catback Exhaust"? What kind is it?
