Found someone to make FD front speaker brackets to replace BOSE! :) Need core!
I've been searching all over eBay for the speaker brackets that used to be in production for FD front doors to replace my old/heavy/crackling BOSE speakers.
I found a company that made speaker brackets to convert my Lexus SC300 Nakamichi speakers to 6.5" aftermarkets... these are the brackets for my Lexus:

I emailed the guy about making the same thing for FD RX7 front Bose replacment brackets and he said HE'D LOVE TO MAKE THEM!
He needs someone to donate a set of BOSE speaker brackets. Whoever donates theirs for prodcution will get a free set of adapter brackets when he's done.
I would donate mine but I drive my car daily now and don't want to be without radio while stuck in traffic.
If anyone has some lying around, or perhaps their car is down for a motor build or something, would anyone be willing to donate? You'll get them back and a free set of the adapters..

wow. Wish I hadn't tossed mine now. Glad to see someone is going to make a set that will work better. I bought the previous ones off ebay. Not worth the money as I had to add and modify to work correctly anyways. Probably why he's not selling anymore.

Sorry that's an excuse! With as much money as we spend on our vehicles, someone simply can't go buy/borrow a jig saw? There cheap at any pawn shop. Now NOT having the skill or construction knowledge is something else. That pic is your blue print.

I have searched on ebay numerous times lately. They are not there anymore. I am very interested in making this happen. I don't really like the Idea of MDF in my doors getting wet then swelling and falling apart. My door speakers are in working order so they are probably worth more than a set of adapters so i dont want to give them up. But I would like a ready made set of adapters that can handle a 2.5 inch front mount depth speaker. If anyone has a set they dont want that are broken or something I will pay you to ship it to this guy.

Perfect. I'll donate mine. I was just about to buy all new components to fix my stereo and this will be a great addition. How fast will he have them done by?
And since we're somewhat on the subject - do I need to purchase a shallow 6.5" speaker to clear?

Update: We've already got a set donated and I believe they are on the way to the fabricator, if not, they will be shortly.
Fab/production time should be a month or so from what I'm told.

Awesome I got my sub installed and it sounds amazing but it totally overpowers the midbass of the BOSE. I have alpine type R components that are 2 5/16 mounting depth. I hope they clear. Now if we could just get them to manufacture a 1inch tweeter mount that replaced the little black triangles life would be good.

Well if it was plexiglass it wouldn't be MDF would it. This guy on ebay makes his adapters out of PVC plastic. Both plastics would be fine for this environment. But I don't have anything that could reliably cut either.

I could (A) pay 25-30 bucks for a set of adapters that are made of a very durable black thermoplastic CNC machined.
or (B) spend about 2-3 hours of time trying to mock up a bracket with cardboard then drawing it out on 1/4 inch MDF which i have to buy for like 10 dollars. Then trying my best to cut it with a jigsaw another 2-3 hours. Then another 5 bucks for some Krylon. So lets see 4-6 hours of labor and 15 bucks not including any mistakes. Im an engineer make probably take home about 25 bucks an hour. I think Ill spend those 4 to 6 hours and work then i can buy a set of these and pay for the speakers.
I just built a damon B style sub box and even though it seems it would not be a lot of work it was so I am not lazy just a realist
