Fitting speakers in my GTU

Ok so I bought these speakers http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...MMC6500&tp=106 . Well supposedly they don't fit in my doors but I haven't had the time to start installing yet. I am fairly confident I wont have a problem but I wanted to here about other peoples experience putting 6 1/2" speakers in there FC's. Crutchfield says the speakers are too deep for the doors but I believe I will not have a problem w/ depth because they come w/ an adapter that sets them about 3/4" out. Then at that point I think they will be close to the door panel and I could take the circle cover off the door and put the speakers cover on but I am undecided on if I want to do this or not. Here are the dimensions for the speaker 2 1/2" depth and 5 1/16" cut out. Any tips are appreciated and no not tips like just don't use the radio I would die not having a radio in my DD. Also I am installing 2 amps one is a JL 300/4 for the speakers and the other is a JL 500/1 for the sub I have yet to buy. I am trying to find out how much wire I will need for the amps to be mounted between the bins and the seat on each side. I have to run 2 4 guage wires and its kinda expensive stuff so I dont wanna have a whole lot of extras. Ya I know its wierd I am worrying about the price of wire and I have 2 $200 amps and speakers that are normally about 270 a pair but I paid 300 for both pairs combined (ebay is awesome) and I got one of the amps free. These are all going to a pioneer head unit probly a 7900bt if I can get it for the right money. Ok I think thats enough info probably.

This is really old but... they don't fit... I am going to try under the dash where the other speakers are but thats probably less likely to work then the doors lol.

Here is what you need to do, remove the OEM door speaker, with its plastic basket\spacer. Make your own spacer (basically a round, 1/2 inch thick "O" ring) out of MDF.

Problem solved!

Lol I only wish that would work. The speakers hit the door if I do that. They fit in the back but need to be mounted a little recessed so that they don't hit the speaker cover when there cranked up. Basically in the doors they hit the lower mount for the window and w/ a spacer they hit the door cover. If I didn't have to worry about the window crank I would have no issue's but the window crank will not allow me to mount the speakers on the surface of the door panel so I'm just screwed lol.

i put 5 1/4 in the dash holes, doubt that 6 1/2 would work, the 6 1/2 will go in the rear but you have to make some sort of bracket for that too...
