A few audio questions regarding my FD

1.) this is the easiest and also the most random..
forever ago I bought a 2nd hand Pioner DEH P350 from a forum member while buying some other stuff.. basically came out free.. and my stock head unit was shot

forgive the stupid question.. do u not have even FM frequencies in the states? (i don't live in the USA)

my radio stations go odd whole numbers only i.e. 96.1-96.3-96.5.. there is no 2-4-6 nor the 2nd decimal place.. i.e. 96.55

i know japanese radios only go up to 90.0 mhz but they still have all the evens and odds...

2.) is a 16cm speaker equivilant to a 6.5" speaker? ( I have some laying around I want to put in the fronts)

3.) I wired in the headunit today.. without a diagram, only a multimeter..
I got everything working except the front speakers..

I have cancelled the Center Speaker because of my 4 pod Fly RX7 gauge holder
so I only have the door speakers left..

and I couldn't get any sound from them..

is there a trick to wiring them up?

I would like to retain the stock speaker wiring when putting in the replacements.. but before I start tearing off door panels.. I want to at least get sound from the stockers..

Help is appreciated.. Thank you

That's how our FM stations are designated over here, they will only hit the odd number after the decimal as you noted.

1. You are correct. We only use odd decimals to the first decimal place.

2. Being that 1 inch equals 2.54 cm, 16cm comes out to 6.3 inches. I would assume that its a 6.5"

3. Most stereo manufaturers use a standard wire coloring now. Some years ago each manufacturer had its own proprietary colors. Luckily they (and lately even the auto manufacturers) all seem to have switched to these:

Red Power - 12 volt switched with key
Yellow Memory - 12 volt constant
Black - Ground
Blue - Power antenna or Amp remote turn on
Green - Left Rear +
Green / Black - Left Rear -
White - Left front +
White / Black - Left front -
Gray - Right Front +
Gray / Black - Right Front -
Purple - Right Rear +
Purple / Black - Right Rear -

sorry perhaps I wasn't clear enough on # 3

the pioneer side of my head unit is a no brainer..

i meant how do i wire it up to the stock wiring of my FD so that the stock front speakers work WITHOUT the center speaker..

or do I need to run new wiring for the doors? (which i really don't want to do)

OK I misunderstood. I'll check the wiring diagrams tonight when I get home and see what it looks like.

OK, assuming the 93 wirind diagrams apply to your car, and you have the standard stereo (not the bose acoustic wave):

Front Right positive: Red
Front Right negative: White

Front Left positive: Green
Front Left negative: Blue

Rear Right positive: White/Blue
Rear Right negative: Blue/Yellow

Rear Left positive: Yellow/Green
Rear Left negative: Yellow/Blue

The center speaker amplifier is spliced into both front speaker signals. You should be able to just disconnect the center speaker and everything should work fine. You could also leave it connected and it should work.
