FD3S Headlight Conversion Kits

I have seen a lot of different conversion kits that I have no idea who they are from.

This is a thread so that people can post pictures and links to purchase the conversion kits.

I have seen some that I like and some that arn't quite my style.

Sleepy Eye look (I don't have a link, someone feel free to inform me) so here is a picture link - https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...postid=2805901

C-West - http://www.c-westusa.com/aero/fd3s/lk1.asp

RE Amemiya - http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/commodit...b0efe&scd=5161

4 eye conversion kit - https://www.rx7club.com/non-classifieds-violations-59/4-eyes-headlight-fd-progress-510340/

Curve Project/ ABFLUG ANUBIS - http://www.curve-ad.com/fd/photo/22.jpg

The ANUBIS headlight conversion is my favorite of all that I have seen to date, but I'd like to see what every one has got out there.

Thanks

~Jesse

i still pondering about the rotaryextreme headlight kit. but its kinda crazy to pay an extra 1000 for the HID kit. IMO the sleek lights only look good with certain bumpers

I read somewhere that the ANUBIS headlight conversion kith that was done was a rip off of a forum member's original design

Any leads?

I sent out one PM, but I have no idea if it was to the right guy.

Another conversion is rotary run racing headlights, i have them on my car, they look MUCH better in person, either you love em or hate em. One thing though, they really light up the road much better than any sleek kit or regular headlights.
I am awaiting a cf garage-s hood to come from j-land, then i can finally put on my r-magic wide front fenders, and 19 advan sienna generation 2 wheels and a new candy apple red paint job. 18" Enkei Aegis wheels will be for sale real soon with nitto nt555 tires for $1200.

the sleepy eye look is a custome conversion a guy on the forums did. He used Hella fog lights for the main beams and PIAA fogs for the his.

That's incredibly dangerous. Fog lamps have a totally different beam pattern than headlights and are meant to send a thin wedge of light at road surface level, not be mounted above-bumper and illuminate roadsigns, etc. Not only is it highly illegal to use foglamps as headlights, it's incredibly stupid.

Thats why I have a hard time with most of the light kits out there. Alot of them use fog lights not actual driving lamps. What you said is exactly the way I felt when I started reading about the differant light kits.

I figured out that the only way to have real driving lamps and to have them in a sleek look that I like is to make my own kit using Hella's 90mm Driving lamps (not fog lamps)

Thanks
John

The Hella 90mms are a bit pricey - for a couple of bucks more you could mount real HID projectors in there...

What are you talking about?

Hella offers two projectors one that is a real HID projector and one that is non HID (uses h9 bulbs)

The real HID projectors from hella have specially focused lenses for HID lights. Thats why they cost almost $500 per module

the non HID ones cost about $50 bucks each.

What are the real ones your talking about? what's the price for them? where can they be found?

Thanks
John

Purerx7, I really like the looks of your headlights.

Call me tacky, but every time I ask about the ANUBIS headlights people splash holy water in my face and expect me to catch on fire.

The kit I understand, it is over the top, but the lights (at least to me) are a work of art

P.S. Where did you acquire your headlight kit?

Thanks

Bought it from a forum member here on the forums for $650 a long time ago, retail is about 1350. They are nearly impossible to find and have been discontinued for over 2 years now. You can try and contact fdnewbie and see if he can pick you up a set maybe from japan used.

Then the prices have come down - their suggested retail was $861.54, and that's for a monoxenon (low beam or high beam only, not both). pomferrari was happy when he found them for only $700: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/hella-90mm-hid-lights-around-%24700-512790/

But yeah, it looks like those Hella 90mm bixenons are now available for about $600. But:

The problem with these Hellas, and the reason I don't consider them real lights, is what you're buying is just the projector. You need an outer lens to protect the projector lens from road debris, water, etc. - and the outer lens has to be tested for DOT compliance with the projector, as an assembled unit, or you're violating the TREAD act and are liable for huge fines. What you need to use is something with the outer lens included, such as this: http://www.spitzkraft.com/detail.php?item=15&numlow=1

BTW it's not 'specially focused lenses' but the shape of the reflector inside the projector that's altered for HID - it compensates for the light source being positioned in a different longditudinal space than a similar halogen bulb. In both cases, HID or halogen, the lens is typically a simple half-sphere of glass or high quality transparent composite.

I stand corrected. You learn something new every day.

I knew that the HID light had to be DOT approved. I didn't know that the lense had to be too. Cool stuff.

Thanks for the update.

I agree, I think they're beautiful but I would want a lense to go over the lights, I think that would look a lot better and would be aerodynamic as well.

Does anybody make a kit like that anywhere? I don't really like the sleek kit from Evo-R because of the Black bezel. Also, I hear that the light pattern is very close to stock and not very bright.

non of the headlight conversions are brighter than Stock. comparing the same type of lightbulbs, stock lights the road the best.

if you want headlight conversion.. its almost a must to get HID..

ill put my rotary run racing headlights with upgraded hid's up against any headlights on any car. When driving my fathers new jaguar that has hid's its not even close my headlights, mine light up the road much better. I will post a light pattern when i get home in a couple months as i am in college.

Actually the hella 90mm HIDs are DOT TREAD compliant by themselves. I'm installing the RE sleek headlight kit right now, okay kit, but it doesn't leave much structural material to mount on. I'm currently fab'n up some support structure and remaking the mounts out of stainless.

Hey, KaiFD3s you notice any flickering of your lights when you hit bumps, like the lights are moving up and down?
