Arrow FD sub enclosure kits to be available again

I have continued to receive responses about the kits I produced before and am willing to do another run again if there is enough interest. We need to shoot for at least 6 again. Originally they were $80+ shipping, but all the shipping was about $15 except poor Alaskan7 who gets raped up there.

New price would be $95 all in, you just send payment and shipping info. This is a sealed enclosure that fits below the strut brace; you must remove some of the foam under the trunk carpet to make it fit. No drilling or cutting of the car is necessary to fit the enlcosure. The enclosure will hold one 10" sub with a mounting depth of 4.5" or less without modification. Access to the spare tire is not impeded and the factory cargo divider remains in place. There is room on the enclosure front to mount an amp and/or crossover that is hidden by the divider.

This is an unassembled kit of 1/2" mdf wood ONLY. You must assemble it, wire, it, cover it and install your woofer. If you provide the cutout dimension for your woofer I will precut it for you; otherwise you will get a 6" hole which you will have to enlarge with a jigsaw. It is not difficult and the previous purchasers have expressed no problems with assembly or fitting to the car.

If you are interested please post here and do not send payment yet; we first must have enough interest. Keep in mind you will have to pay in advance and shipping of the enclosures will depend on how quickly everyone gets their payments in, but I won't delay more than a couple weeks so as not to penalize the ones who pay right away.

Please email questions to me at bottorff25@aol.com

Sorry; these are mass produced and as is. One 10" in a sealed enclosure. Anything else requires too much time for me to design and service; I want to keep these cheap for everybody.

I sort of wanted one of these last time but didn't have much spare cash at the time so if another batch is being made, I'd be interested.

What are the sound characteristics of a box design like that? I would think the speaker should fire into the cabin rather than the trunk-why do you choose that setup? Someone educate me here

is it possible to order a box without the hole in it? I have a 8" sub I want to put in, but firing into the cabin instead of into the trunk. I already have a spare trunk "divider" that will be cut to 8" in diameter on the passenger side (covered with trim ring/grill cloth) and a rectangle cut out for the amp face to show through also, which will be able to be covered with a piece of carpet for parking it. Let me know if this is possible. I will only need the outer faces with no holes and no inner "braces" as I can figure out how to divide the box for .5 cubic feet that I need. Would $85.00 shipped be fair for a request like this? let me know as I am very interested and have the money sitting in my paypal account.

Would be no problem.

Price would be same; $95 all in.
Please don't send money at this time; at least 6 must be interested first.
Thanks.

I am also curious about the sound quality pointing towards the trunk instead of up or towards the cabin.

Low frequencies are non-directional...meaning it would be difficult to pinpoint their localized image. Therefore, it really doesn't make a huge diff whether it's pointing forward or back. However, the old school thought was to point them backwards cuz it extends the distance the soundwave travels (back then forwards) hence placing the listener in the greater amplitude section of the soundwave. But low freq has such long wavelengths that you gotta be 20ft away to be at the wave's peak. Ne-hoo, it's prolly better that the speaker doesn't point towards the hatch divider...the sound pressure on that will drive u nutz.

DamonB, when you say 4.5" clearance for sub depth, what's the actual depth? I'd hate to back the magnets against the box. Also, how much clearance will there be from the front of the box to the hatch divider?

Thx.

The 4.5" is the mounting depth available for the driver. Actually it is slightly more since the front of the enclosure is slanted to follow the cargo divider. I know at least one of the previous purchaser's woofer was too deep so he just added a mounting ring behind the woofer to add a little depth.

I don't remember the actual space between the enclosure and divider; I think it is about 2". I have since replaced my amp since the pics were taken; it is now an Alpine V-12 and it fits fine.

Like you stated earlier sub freqs are omnidirectional. I made it fire into the hatch so I could retain the cargo divider and hide the amp. The woofer could easily enough be put on the front instead, but I was interested in stealth. My single JL 10W1 sounds great in the car and is all I need. Anything more is just for more noise and show.

Alright I count 6 so far, looks like we can make this happen. Let's wait another week and see who else is interested.

So far:

potatobbq
daiSho
race1 (no hole)
KibagamiR2
Nameless
HedgeHog

Please be sure you want one! Last time we were held up because it took weeks for everyone to pay! Out of about 50 emails I answered, 20 said they were in; only 10 paid. The amount of buyers didn't bother me at all; I just hate taking people's money and then making them wait!

What does unassembled mean? I go to school in boston where I don't have a garage. I want to get an idea of how much work it will take to get the box assembled. Are you basically selling a couple of boards that are precut, or is everything already glued together, but not astetically finished?

You get a "flat" package of computer cut 1/2" mdf that you have to glue together. Everything is exact size to fit with the exception of the woofer hole unless you tell me what cutout diameter you need.

Nobody expressed any trouble with the first batch and I know at least several of them had not worked with anything like this before. It can easily be built on a kitchen table in an hour or two.
