FD simple clean stereo opnions

I am not a huge freak on stereos anymore.. however i love listening to music as loud as possible and as hard as it deserves to be played!!

I love rock, metal, and everynow and then some rb hiphop!! well my gf likes the rb hip hop mostly so i gotta deal with it

anyways its time to focus on my stereo aspect!

I have an alpine w200 headunit dvd montior

I have a set of 5.25" component sets from kicker for the front doors
and i have a 6x8" 3 way kicker set for the rear!

the custom shop that is doing the apholstry for me is going to install a layer of dynamat extreme in my car to help out with road noise etc.. and should help my stereo out too..

What do i do for my low end sound!!??

1. buy a infinity basslink sub!! its light and cheap and i heard they rock pretty decent!

2. do a custom small sub box holding 2- 8" kicker comp vr subs and buy a nice 400 watt amp for them.

3. say f it and put a solo l7 12" sub in the hatch area and throw 500-1000watts to it?? and wake my neighbors??

im wanting to stay somewhat light in the weight area cause its still an fd! i dont wanna go win competitions in stereo.. i want it to look nice and sounds pretty darn good that can be impressive when riding in my car and be able to play about whatever i throw at it!

any idea's on what you would personally do? or any other options?

and also there are three different styles of basslinks

the basslink orginal
basslink 2
and the basslink t which is for a light truck but looks as tho it would fit in the hatch well..

the orginal is a round sub and 200 watts where the others are square subs and are 250 watts.. anyone heard any of these in the hatch of a fd?

Some basslinks have tendency to fail after short use. So make sure you buy from a good dealer that is good with warranties like Crutchfield.

^agreed my buddy had a basslink in his 3000gt wth aftermarket powered components. half the time you couldnt tell it was even on. if you wanna hear it go with a 10 in a sealed box like FNP said. theres a kid on here with a nice setup that would prbably be right up your alley. i think his name on here is purerotary

I made a custom one since the B*stards at JL wouldn't make another mold of their stealth box. talked to the rep and everything, all i needed was the design specs and they said they didn't have em or some crap. so i made my own. Maybe not quite as cool as the original, but it sits in the spare tire well and is completely hidden when the carpet is down. didn't have to raise the floor or anything either. 10 in blaupunkt sub and my old (and quite large) kenwood amp.

I'll make you one including the sub and a smaller rockford amp for $650.

thats an idea.. id like to use the wheel well for a sub box and then use MDF to cover the whole hatch so it looks like a stock setup but have a port coming up somewhere for the sub to flow from.. it be like a bandpass design then! and you never see the sub or amp at all.. just one simple port..

thats ideal for me since i dont care how super loud it gets just as long as it will rock hard with my mids and highs! im really thinking a single kicker l5 sub and like 400 watts would do it.. but building that box hmm.. i dunno.. its gunna take some planning..

if you listen to rock you will want to do a sealed sub box becuase it is hard for a ported box to make good quick hits. A ported box will be louder and make long bass notes easier but quick hits wont be "tight"

If you want kicker I can get there products cheap(new) send me a pm if interested.

thanks for the offer on kicker but i also got a hookup here locally.. my friend works at a shop that sells there stuff and he can buy me a sub with his discount. thanks for the offer tho!

i was thinking the 8" in a ported box would rock.. but maybe 2 8's sealed would do better? i want it to be loud of course but nothing insane! i mean heck im looking to work with 8's how loud can they really get?? if i can make my mirrors shake i think i will have enough power!
