FD Shifter Surround Questions w/ Photos

So the roller I bought came with some spare parts. Amongst them were two shifter surrounds that look VERY different. I'm do not have much experience with FD interior plastics yet...never paid much attention to them.

Would you say one of these surrounds has been perhaps repainted? One is very glossy and the other is dull. Neither of them are peeling and are in great shape. The car is a 93 and to the best of my knowledge both of these are 93 surrounds but I'm looking for confirmation. Thank you!

1st photo is side by side...the bottom image is the glossy surround...in person it is very, very glossy.

2nd photo close up of glossy surround.

3rd photo close up of dull surround.

Most of the 94+ parts had a texture on them. However, I don't remember if that texture was also on the shifter panel. It's possible that both pieces are 93's and the OEM coating has been removed from the dull panel (it's very easy to do without damaging the panel).

The original '93 stuff was a film that peeled easily. If you get replacement '93-style pieces from Mazda, they look very similar, but it's obviously a paint/coating now... the film stuff looks smudgy/crappy after a while, and if it peels off, it's very glossy/plastic-y.

For reference, the 94+ plastic is all textured - gauge surround/hood, a/c control panel, shifter console, and door plastics

If you can get the plastic film off, you can use a rubbing compound that will smooth out the pieces and leave a glossy black to them. Then if you really wanted to, you can spray a clear coat, wet sand, and polish to a shine.

Looks really good but is some elbow grease for sure.

I took my 93 panels to CarToys and they referred me to their interior "paint guy". He repainted them for $75 bucks and they look identical to stock. Doing the panels from the door next

arnt 93s the only ones with that indented line going through them? the dull one could be a repainted 93 with that line filled in or a 94+ console that was sprayed with some paint.
