I got a sore dick deal on a set of FD seats, quickly adapted them to my miata (because back problems and comfort) and am now pursuant to refreshing them for next season's cruising:
As you can probably tell, the drivers seat has seen better days and better weather. The foam and upholstry i can figure out on my own, but the skins i seek guidance and input on. I will be doing all of it myself as nothing in the project sounds difficult and i have found resources for instructions.
I like the OE leather but i wont shy from better materials, suede and alcantara are appealing. Plushiness, keeping the storage pouch and red stitching are big pluses too.
What is a good outlet for seat skins? I wouldnt say i dont have a budget for them, but the closer they get to 4 digits the more apprehensive i am. But at the same time i want them to look and feel good without ever needing to replace them again.
Interior innovations and ridies pop up first on google, and ebay has a few but I'm always wary of ebay sellers. But being on the front page doesn't translate to quality in my head.

i found this video to be extremely straightforward and understandable. Replacing the covers themselves is just a bunch of rings by the look of it.
you are correct; there are a bunch of hog rings, close to 50 on the back of the seat and center section. I am guessing about 30 more for the bottom of the seat.
