fd rear seat option...?

ok still learning about the fd.. can someone give me the history of the rear seats? i just saw this on ebay and sparked my interest about it again...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...spagenameZWDVW

i also remember seeing a link on this site that lead to a vendor selling the rear seat option... can we do it in the US cars?

You can modify the US cars to fit a rear seat in them. You're probably thinking about Ramy. He can get them for you. http://fdnewbie.com. The thing is unless you have a really small person to sit back there they are otherwise useless, at least in my opinion.

Hmmm, I think it's a good question too. Haven't thought of that. The only thing is since they were imported as a 2 seater only and that's how they are classified, I'm not sure it would work. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess.

Will the seatbelts hook up on a usdm car, cause the ebay car just has the hole where they go.

I have a full rear seat set-up in my car and there are no modifications necessary at all. The only difference in our US cars is the tranny tunnel is a bit longer and overlaps the seat a bit. But you will need all of the pieces to work install easy and not need to modify anything. Also a couple of carpet patches since the bins go all the way to the floor of the car.

Click in my sig under my FD and you will see my converstion in the vbgarage.

Hi Jeff! I have actually had them in my car for almost 3 years now. Best $500 I spent on my car.

Have you had people ride back there and how did you get them for $500?

Yes. People have gone for rides in the back. The tallest I can fit is a 5'6" person but that is with me driving! lol I am only 5'1". I fit perfect! But I have a 6 year old who has been sitting in his car seat in the back since he was 3. And my 8 yr old nephew loves it too. The first day of school I drive them up to the curb in the 7. They love it!

When I used to go out with the girls it was perfect. But if the driver is more than 5'7" or 5'8" you can forget getting anyone behind them. My seat is all the way forward when I drive so it is easy.

I will look for the website I bought them from. I know it is a place in WA that imports JDM stuff. I think they import wrecked cars and part them out mostly. I will see if I can find the receipt for the web address or phone number.

Wow I didn't think that someone that tall could fit back there. I'm mostly interested cause my dog goes with me everywhere and my bins are broken, so I might as well get the seats. If you could find where you got them that would be sweet, cause the cheapest I've found for was $900. Thanks
