fd door speakers

Anyone have any recommendations for the door speakers? I'm planning on upgrading my stock stereo soon and I've heard some speakers won't fit because of the depth. Also, I want to add some sort of bass but I really don't want a box in my trunk, any suggestions? I've heard the Inifinity basslink self powered sub isn't too bad but I would still have to find a place to mount it. What are my options if I decide not to go with a custom box?

There is no problem with the depth, just make three cuts and you will have all the debth you need.

I've clarion speakers in the door bc 6" rockford fosgates wouldn't fit. I got the rockfords in the back and they sound pretty good together.

Most 6" won't fit unless you customize the bracket or do your own grille. 6" don't really make that much bass so I would just pick a set of speaker that have good highs and mids. The small magnet speakers still sound fine if they are efficient speakers.

Get the Boston Acoustics pro-series, they are assume speakers. Get the 5.5 series they will fit with little efforts, 6.5 are too big for the front.

BA 5.5s would be my rec. I have the 6.5s and they definately do not fit without a lot of work. If you want more info on this search under my name. I seem to respond to every single front speaker mounting depth thread

good luck

i eventually ended up with infinity kappa 60.3 6.5" seperates... the depth wasn't too much of a problem. if i had it to do over again, i would get some diamond m6 or hex.

I know there are better speakers out there, but I've been really happy with the Kenwoods I have. I've got coaxial 6.5s in the rear shock towers and and 6.5 triaxials in the doors. The door speakers fit beautifully...all I had to do was drill two holes. Two of the factory holes were lined up. There wasn't any cutting or filing needed and the speaker depth was just right. I've got a powered 8" sub box in the back and it ROCKS! It doesn't really inhibit use of the rear cargo space either. It's all powered by an a/d/s/ 35w by four channels. I listen to a wide range of music...from Keoki to Tool and this system handles it beautifully. Check out the sub pic.
