Unhappy FC: My interior sucks

Dont get me wrong, its in fine condition, but its the horrific brown cloth interior. Anyone else hate this interior? Is it worth the trouble to dye it or swap it? Also, how possible is it to mount two 10" subs behind each seat? I don't exactly live in the best part of town and I love music, but I dont want my sh*t jacked. Any ideas please.

You mean the burgundy death? alot of people hate it, and its worth the trouble to swap out the black int. pricey, but still nice. Anyways, you can try to just ditch the spare and mount a sub or two down in that well. I hear it's a good place. Mounting subs behind seats? Remember, the bins are mounted onto a fibreglass box, so it's possible.

Sweet. I'll start lookin for a black interior. As for the subs, i just went out and knocked on the would-be sub mounting area behind the seats, and it sounds like metal. I dont wanna cut a hole in the body of the car. Idk ill take it apart when i get time to look at it

Do that.

The grey doesn't look too bad don't you think? Black is nice too.
You can get Alcontara fabric for cheap. You could redo the roof and pillers for under $100.

That's alcantara

Its not metal, and its not even part of the frame. The actual storage bin lid is plastic. And where the whole thing mounts in is some type of plastic/fiberglass material.

i dont mean to hijack the thread but i just wanted to know how does the bass "hits" in this position? my sub box is located on the back and i love the way the bass reverbs off the glass. i'm planning on doing this same set-up but does it sound better with the subs pointed up towards the roof or up and facing the hatch glass?

The bass should sound the same there - if not better. It is still shooting where the sound can resonate through the car, and it is attached to the frame, so your low ends will be a lot smoother and cleaner.

sorry to jack the thread, but...
I'm starting a custom car audio company, and I'd like to start getting products out. If I can make those in floor boxes for decent price, would anyone here be interested? The more people that are intereseted, the cheaper I can make them.

did you pull the factory boxes out? If you take the fiberglass part off, you would see that the metal below is designed for a 2x2 conversion (like the 2x2 datsuns). There is room, but not a lot, so you could only do 10's there.

if you put it there you're effectively removing your bins right? why not just remove the bins and make a custom enclosure where they used to be? i think it will look cleaner.

it would look cleaner but i wanted them at an angle pointing towards the hatch. i did some tests this past weekend and imo it sounded better than just leaving it flat. if anything i may put the enclosure inside where the bins are and have a flush look instead of the box on top

Sounds better angeled towards the back. Why? the way the sound waves are reflected I guess. Anyways, removing the bins and making a custom enclosure is much easier and would probably look better.
