FC color change, worth it?

I finally got the chassis('90 base GTU, no sunroof) for my big project car, but unfortunately, there's a problem:

Finding any S5 RX-7 without a sunroof is pretty difficult task. So I finally found this one, but the problem is, the original color was not white as I had been led to believe, rather, it was blue, and has had a so-so White color job painted over it. I'm faced with two decisions

1) Keep the car, strip the interior and engine bay, repaint it in the blackish green color that the FCs in Japan got(that's pretty neat, I think ).

2) cut my losses(probably around $800) sell the car, and start over, trying to find a '90 GTU without a sunroof.

Here's the thing, I don't mind paying for a showroom quality paint job, but it's gotta be around 3 grand. Not much more. It would hurt to sell this car too, because it's got zero body damage, and finding a 12 year old car in good shape with the above criteria is difficult. What do you guys think? I'm particularly interested in the opinions of guys who have first hand experience in repainting a different color, but I'm also interested in other opinions. Thanks guys!

Steve

P.S. I should also note that this 90 GTU is not perfect, it's got some very light rust issues, sticky right door, some small stuff that I could fix myself at no or little cost, just thought I'd toss that in.
P.P.S. Yes, the chassis HAS to be a S5 with no sunroof, so please no suggestions that I just find one with a sunroof, thank you. Thanks for taking the time to read this post too!

Since it is a project I would strip it down (inside and out) and then have it repainted. As you said it was a hard find, so why start over. If you do most of the prep work $3000 is possible.
