FB guys with aftermarket head units
Hey,
I've got an '83 GS and I want to update the stereo in it. Looking at it, the opening in the dash doesn't appear to be the standard 1-DIN or whatever for aftermarket head units. So with this in mind, how does one go about mounting an aftermarket head unit. I assume you would need to do some cutting but I'm sure about the mounting.

got a pic of the old radio? I put a single din in my 83 GSL with no problem at all. You probably have a different stock system than me. The only problem I ran in to was there was nowhere to screw in the HU to mount it, I had to make a custom bracket.

Don't have a good pic of just the headunit but you can sorta see it in this pictures. It appears to be your standard 1-DIN size, but what I realized when I started to pull it out is that the actual radio is smaller than it appears.
I've never tried to fit a different HU... so maybe I'm just mistaken but it really appears smaller. Anyone know the dimensions of 1-DIN?
