Factory Sterio
Anyone here know the wattage of the factory sterio, i really only want to replace the speakers, so I just need to know if it will be able to power them. My car is an '85 and came with the EQ.

You will be able to power just about any aftermarket speakers. They will probably not sound any better than your stock speakers. I tried the same thing on my rx-7 (90 n/a). Figure that your HU has 12 watts rms, 25 watts peak. This is the figure for 99% of all HU, aftermarket or stock, since about 1990. You might have even less in an 85, but I doubt it. if you are trying to get it loud, find speakers with abnormally high 1w/1m db ratings, like 95 or 96. These will sound much louder than speakers rated 88 or so at 1w/1m. Every 3 db is a perceptible difference, every 10 db twice as loud. You're on the slippery slope to not only new speakers, but a new amp, and probably a sub and an amp for that. Enjoy.

No, I dont want a sub. Its too much, makes the sound very unbalanced. I'm lookin at some JBL GTO625's for the back, and Kenwood KFC-1077 for the front. If I can find a good reciever then I'll get it too, but it has to be Silver, I want it to match nice with the rest of the interior.

No no no, a sub DOES make everything balenced, as long as you get a nice sub thats tuned correctly. Most people don't want tons of BOOM, like myself, I just wanted something to fill in where the other speakers left off. Even the best 6.5" or 6x9" speakers don't do very well below 80hz or so.
But, since you only want to run it off the stock head unit, its a bit diffrent. I had Infinity speakers all around in my first gen. The fronts made a HUGE diffrence, but the rears were not nearly as noticable. It was only after I put in an Alpine HU and a sub that it really picked up.
