engine noise

engine noise

i have a 85 se and just got a stereo put in. i am getting engine noise and eliminated the problemsi disconnected the antenna wire and still i hear the noise is it the antenna or the stereo.

i think there are some noise blockers that you hook up in the speaker wire between the speaker and stereo to reduce engine noise.

but like wrex said check your grounds first

If the system is only a head unit and speakers, then make sure the main ground wire for the H/U has a good ground. Keep in mind that a good ground is not just something that looks like solid metal. If you used the factory ground wire you might try somewhere else.

If you have a seperate amp you'll have more stuff to check....... Oh and don't even consider using a "noise blocker" unless nothing else works. There are several kinds of filters but one that attaches to the speaker wires in not one I've heard of.
