Door Speakers on Pioneer AE Stock System
My door speakers on my 88 Convertible have never worked right. I replaced the originals with some regular speakers, but the left speaker makes a buzzing sound or it buzzes out the music and the right one doesn't seem to be working at all. I picked up a new factory amp (made by Pioneer) and replaced the original door speaker amp. No joy!
I read in the FSM the original door speakers are woofers. Do I need to buy special speakers then for the door?

Heres a picture of the door in my 88 vert.
And by the way I didnt rip the plastic out, some dingleberry who put a new power window motor in it did it. Previous owner had someone do it... I replaced it tho.

Guys, I just picked up an '88 Vert last week and the rt door speaker coughs and hiccups as well. This is especially evident when turning up the bass to a noticable level.
I want to replace the door speakers and well, probably replace the dash speakers as well since they are probably originals and 13 year old speakers deserve to be dumped.
Any suggestions for speakers while being able to maintain the original (their best model) Pioneer-made system?

You can put any speaker in there.. If its a 2 way or a 3 way your wasting your time, I think the factory door 6" were at like 100 Hz and down.. Try to find a nice midbass speaker that isnt really deep (depth in inches). Unless you wanna build the spacer for them... . One thing I didnt mention before is if you use a 6 1/2 and a 3/4" spacer you need to BE POSITIVE the homemade spacer and speaker is placing the speaker in the center of the door panels cutout or else the speaker beating itself into the door panel which isnt gonna be a good sound...Nor good to the poor speakers surround...
